"For if because of one man's trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive God's overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness; putting them into right standing with Himself, reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)" (Rom. 5:17 AMP).

Social Status

Social status is the position or rank of a person or group, within the society and can be determined in two ways. One can earn their social status by their own achievements, which is known as ACHIEVED STATUS.

Alternatively, one can be placed in the stratification system by their inherited position, which is called ASCRIBED STATUS. Ascribed status can also be defined as those that are fixed for an individual at birth. Ascribed statuses that exist in all societies include those based upon sex, age, race ethnic group and family background. For example, a person born into a wealthy family characterized by traits such as popularity, talents and high value will have many expectations growing up. Therefore they are given and taught many social roles as they are socially positioned into a family becoming equipped with all these traits and characteristics.

Achieved status means also what the individual acquires during his or her life time as a result of the exercise of knowledge, ability, skill and/or perseverance.
Occupation provides an example of status that maybe either ascribed or achieved; it can be achieved by one gaining the right knowledge and skill to become socially positioned into a higher position of that job, building a person’s social identity within the occupation.

As full gospel business men and women we have a status, a unique one at that, we are men and women who represent God and the whole host of heaven in business and in life. The question is this, do you know it? What have you done about it? Are you striving to achieve higher status or are you content with the ascribed status you already have?

Flee From You

April 9, 2014

"Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).

Every passage in the New Testament that deals with the devil always instructs you and me to do something about the devil. New Testament believers are never told to pray that God would do something about the devil!

In James 4:7 "you" is the understood subject of the sentence "You resist the devil and he will flee from you." Notice it's not, "Pray to God for Him to do something about the devil." Nor is it, "Pray that Jesus won't let the devil get you."

OUR DEEPEST FEAR

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate; our deepest fear is that we are too powerful beyond measure. It is often our light not our darkness that frightens us, we ask ourselves who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are born to manifest the glory of God that is within us, it is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. And as we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Because I Go

April 3, 2014

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father" (John14:12).

Dr. John Alexander Dowie (1847-1907) was used by God to reintroduce divine healing to the modern Church. Dr. P.C. Nelson, founder of Southwestern Assemblies of God College, said, "You can't follow Dowie's doctrine, but you can follow his faith."
